About Us
The University School of Management Studies (USMS), Mohali was established in 2006 as RayatBahra Institute of Management. The school is dedicated to developing ethical, socially responsible, skilled graduates, through exhaustive learning, training, consultation, and research. The School offers various Management, Computer Application, and Commerce programs both at the graduate and postgraduate levels. Within a short span of time USMS has attained a leading position in Management Education.
During the MBA Programme, students are exposed to regular Industry interface and mentoring with senior executives. The University School of Management Studies has been at the epicenter of transformational capabilities where the foundation is laid with the objective of combining traditional Indian values with a dynamic global understanding of learning. It has come a long way in redefining the typical and archaic methodologies of teaching and shaped them into a more fluid and non- conservative approach of making the future leaders of the corporate and society. In their curriculum, they are encouraged to take up mini projects to supplement theoretical knowledge with practical experience. We at the Department of Management Studies, provide a conducive learning environment with a vivacious and internationally accepted flexible and Choice Based Credit System of UGC, imparted by experienced full-time faculty and supplemented by practicing professionals as visiting faculty. The aim is to hone the analytical and problem-solving skills of the students coupled with decision-making capabilities.
The courses are delivered through the use of modern teaching techniques such as Case Study Method, Seminars, Conferences, Field Visits, Group Projects, Role Playing, Experimental Learning, and Simulated Exercises to give the students an opportunity to learn by doing.
The co-curricular and extra-curricular activities and a vibrant campus life with all modern amenities ensure holistic development of students’ personality. A strong network with our alumni and our interface with the industry towards the placement has become our key highlight.
The students are encouraged to gain experience by working on projects, organizing events, etc., by themselves This allows them to appreciate unprecedented situations and work with resource constraints and optimally utilize time and money. In the current world, it’s almost impossible to imagine that someone can live without computers. Computers are used in almost every sector of everyday life. Moreover, there is radical change in Indian corporate Sector and consumer expectations today. Business organizations have to keep adopting themselves to these rapid changes. To manage such business, Universities are required to produce future managers & IT professionals who can think logically, take decisions & be able to work in any cultural environment. In order to meet these requirements, Department of Computer Applications at Rayat Bahra University not only gives the students in depth knowledge of the state of the art but also inculcated in them a proficiency to apply this knowledge in solving real life problems to become highly skilled and effective Managers & IT professional.
The Department of Computer Applications offers a broad portfolio of successful programmes under its belt i.e. three year Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) and Bachelor of Computer Science B.Sc. (CS) and further department offers three years (Two year in case of leet Program) Master of Computer Applications (MCA) program and one year Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA). The department also has a vibrant Ph.D. program. We are also approved by UGC and AICTE.
It gives me immense pleasure to lead the Department of Computer Applications. The aim of our department is to inspire and motivate students and thus enabling them to achieve potential for personal and professional growth. We have award winning curriculum, excellent group of faculty involved in both research and teaching to provide students a top-rated education. The University School of Management Studies Library is the key knowledge resource center with a large stock of books, periodicals, digital resources, journals, and reference material. The library is connected with other resource centers through various networks like DELNET.
SEMINAR HALL
The School has a well-furnished seminar hall with a sitting capacity of 200 persons. It is used for conducting Seminars, Conferences, Orientation Programme and Cultural Activities.
