The University School of Education (USE), formerly known as Rayat-Bahra College of Education, is committed to create and ensure excellent learning experience and school for every child. The USE was established in 2005 with a vision and will to provide value based quality educators. In a span of few years it has become a name to be reckoned with in the field of education. USE is a vibrant community of students, faculty, staff and alumni with a passion for equity and excellence in education. We strive towards our vision by continuously working on developing inspiring coursework, cutting-edge research, innovative partnerships and outreach and ongoing effective practice in the most challenging education settings.

The school of education offers various courses such as B.Ed., B.A.-B.Ed., B.Sc.-B.Ed., M.Ed., M.A., PG Diploma and Ph.D. The institute unfolds, develops and utilizes full potential to make prospective teachers and teacher educator’s committed, competent, responsible and compassionate citizens. Our faculty is qualified as per the prescribed norms of the NCTE. The institute has highly qualifies faculty members with M.Phil and Doctorate degrees.

For overall student development and give competitive edge over others, specialized courses like personality development, communication skills, computers are being taught. These courses dig out high order thinking skills (HOTS) through innovation and alternatives ideas in learning. In addition, we have a concept of inclusive classrooms for students with learning disabilities, so that they can also be a part of learning curve.

Student focussed education is the core of the institutional ethos with optimal student progression through diversity, collaborative learning, learner autonomy, innovation and creativity. Participation in cultural and community activities are encouraged to ensure a value based education.

  • The enhancement and up gradation of the equipment and laboratory is done regularly to keep abreast with latest equipment/facilities for various laboratories by the institute and management.

In library of University School of Education, we have 137 dissertations and 171monographs have been added to the library till the session 2011-12. Five new computers have been installed in the library for creating a digital library. Students will have access to online magazines, newspapers and various e-books related to the field of education through DELNET. We have the subscription of N-List (INFLIBNET) from the month of June 2012.

  • Four National Journals as well as 1 International Journal is subscribed by our library. We are planning to subscribe 4 more online journals in this session.
  • Back Volumes of all journals subscribed by our library have been maintained since 2005.
  • Book Bank Facility is being provided to economically weak students since inception of the college. Five books to each student are issued for an entire session. Since 2006, sixty-four students have been benefited with the service.
  • Best Library Reader Award is given to two students one from B.Ed and one from M.Ed on the annual function day.
  • Inter College Competitions for the library on various themes are organized every year since 2012.
  • All the Educational Surveys and Commission Reports which are vital for research work in the field of education are available in the library.

General Information

Research is essential to economic and social development of our globalised society, forming the foundations governmental policies around the world. So research is the basic tool to layout the foundation of future education.

Rayat Bahra Journal of Education is an effort to collect and publish quality research papers.

The purpose of the journal is to provide a forum for young researchers, teachers, teacher educators and research workers to share their ideas, appraisals and studies on Contemporary educational thought, practices and problems in education and fields related to or associated with education.

The journal is peer reviewed with ISSN No 22787232 published biannually by University School of Education, Rayat Bahra University Sahauran, Mohali Punjabi, India.

Publication Policy

Submission of research paper to the Rayat Bahra Journal of Education (RBJE) implies, and is an undertaking on the part of author (s), that neither the manuscript nor any other similar manuscript has been published, or is under consideration elsewhere. Each paper is reviewed by the review panel of Rayat Bahra Journal of Education comprising internal review committee and two reviewer (s). Acceptance for publication is contingent upon addressing all concerns of reviewers. The decision of the editor shall be final and binding in all matters.

Ethics Policy

  • Authorship of the paper: Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study.
  • Originality and plagiarism:The authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others, that this has been appropriately cited or quoted. Moreover to publish the original work undertaking from the author must be taken to assure that it has not be published anywhere.
  • Data access and retention: Authors may be asked to provide the raw data in connection with a paper for editorial review, and should be prepared to provide public access to such data
  • Multiple, redundant or concurrent publication: An author should not in general publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. RayatBahra Journal of Education does not view the following uses of a work as prior publication: publication in the form of an abstract; publication as an academic thesis; publication as an electronic preprint.
  • Acknowledgement of sources: Proper acknowledgment.
  • Disclosure and conflicts of interest: All submissions must include disclosure of all relationships that could be viewed as presenting a potential conflict of interest.
  • Fundamental errors in published works: When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.
  • Reporting standards: Authors of reports of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance

Guidelines For Contributors

Format: Manuscripts are not to exceed 6,500 words excluding references. Provide an
abstract of 100 words. Include a list of 3 to 5 key words describing the main
subjects discussed in the manuscript. The submission will be blinded at RBJE prior to be sent for review.
Use a standard typeface and size such as Times News Roman 12 pt.

Author’s name, affiliation, address including E – mail, including acknowledgement should appear in separate page.

Style: Sources cited appear in parentheses after each reference (direct or otherwise),
giving authors name, year of publication, (Mahajan, 2012 ,).

Enclose quotes of 40 or fewer words in double quotation marks in the text;
indent quotes longer than 40 words in block format. Page numbers must be given.

List all sources alphabetically at the end of the manuscript under the heading
References using APA style.

Footnotes are not allowed, and the use of endnotes is discouraged.

Graphics: Number tables and figures with Arabic numerals and provide each on a separate
page at the end of the manuscript. Indicate placements of figures and tables in text.

Submitting: Manuscripts must be submitted electronically as E-mail attachments, the preferred
file formats are Microsoft Word.

Research Notes: This section provides means of reporting on smaller research projects that
have one or two findings of particular interest.

    • The student has obtained a minimum CGPA of 5.00 for Diploma & under graduate courses and CGPA 5.5 for post graduate courses.
    • The student has not taken more time than specified for completion of the course.
    • Student has satisfied all the rules of evaluation.
    • No case of indiscipline or unfair means is pending against the student.
    • No dues are pending against the student.
